Dresden, le 27 avril 2013 – Mélissa Citrini-Beaulieu, de St-Constant, au Québec, a gagné la médaille d’argent, samedi, au tremplin féminin d’un mètre chez les 16-18 ans dans la Compétition internationale jeunesse de plongeon.
C’est la troisième médaille du Canada dans la compétition qui présente plusieurs des meilleurs plongeurs juniors au monde. Caeli McKay, de Calgary, a gagné la médaille de bronze au tremplin féminin d’un mètre chez les 14-15 ans, jeudi, et Courtney Hattie et Emily Schmidt, de Victoria, ont aussi terminé troisièmes au tremplin synchronisé féminin ouvert de trois mètres, vendredi.
Au tremplin féminin de trois mètres chez les 16-18 ans, Louisa Stawczynski, d’Allemagne, a été la gagnante avec 403,95 points. Citrini-Beaulieu, la meneuse après les deuxième et troisième rondes de la finale qui en comptait quatre, a obtenu la médaille d’argent avec 396,90. Samantha Maiorino, aussi de St-Constant, a terminé huitième.
Gabriel Corriveau et Félix Leathead, tous deux de Montréal, se sont classés sixième et neuvième à la plateforme masculine chez les 14-15 ans et Caeli McKay, de Calgary, 10e au tremplin féminin de trois mètres chez les 14-15 ans.
La compétition se terminera dimanche.
CANADA ON PODIUM AGAIN AT INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DIVING MEET
Dresden, April 27th 2013 – Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu of St-Constant, Que., won the silver medal on Saturday in the women’s 16-18 age group one-metre at the International Youth Diving Meet.
It was Canada’s third medal of the competition which features many of the top junior divers in the world. Caeli McKay of Calgary won bronze in the women’s 14-15 age group one-metre on Thursday and Courtney Hattie and Emily Schmidt of Victoria were also third in the open women’s three-metre synchro event on Friday.
In the women’s 16-18 age group one-metre, Louisa Stawczynski of Germany was the winner with 403.95 points. Citrini-Beaulieu, the leader after the second and third round of the four-dive final, took the silver at 396.90. Samantha Maiorino, also of St-Constant was eighth.
Gabriel Corriveau and Félix Leathead, both of Montreal, were sixth and ninth in the boys 14-15 platform and Caeli McKay of Calgary 10th in the girls 14-15 three-metre.
Competition ends Sunday.
