Édimbourg, le 20 avril 2013 – Pamela Ware, de Beloeil, au Québec, était dans la course aux médailles jusqu’à la dernière ronde et a terminé cinquième dans la finale au tremplin féminin de trois mètres, samedi, dans la troisième étape de la Série mondiale de plongeon de la FINA.
La championne olympique He Zi, de Chine, a gagné la médaille d’or avec 375,90 points. Sa compatriote Tingmao Shi a terminé deuxième avec 374,25 et Olena Fedorova, d’Ukraine, troisième avec 340,20.
Ware, qui participe au niveau international dans cette épreuve pour la première fois cette saison, a récolté 336,75 points. Elle a éprouvé des difficultés avec deux plongeons dans la finale: son retourné dans la troisième ronde et celui avec vrilles dans la cinquième et dernière ronde. Elle était troisième après quatre rondes.
« Je suis plus fâchée à cause de mon troisième plongeon, a dit Ware, âgée de 20 ans. C’est définitivement mon plus difficile, mais je l’ai travaillé très fort. Je suis allée trop loin et je n’ai pas bien placé mon corps. Pour le dernier plongeon, je n’ai pas bien exécuté mon saut d’appel. »
Elle a entrepris la finale avec un brillant plongeon arrière qui lui a valu des notes de 8.0 des sept juges et elle a de nouveau bien fait dans la deuxième ronde avec son deux et demie avant. Elle a aussi obtenu des notes de 8.0 et de 8.5 pour son plongeon renversé.
« Globalement, ce fut une performance solide et j’ai acquis de la confiance », a dit Ware.7
La compétition se terminera dimanche avec la tour féminine de 10 mètres et Carol-Ann Ware. Les soeurs Ware ont terminé cinquièmes, vendredi, à la tour synchronisée féminine de 10 mètres.

PAMELA WARE FIFTH AT DIVING WORLD SERIES
Edinburgh, April 20th 2013 – Pamela Ware of Beloeil, Que., was in medal contention until the last round and took fifth spot in the women’s three-metre final on Saturday at the third stop on the FINA World Series diving circuit.
Olympic champion He Zi of China won the gold medal with 375.90 points, her compatriot Tingmao Shi was second at 374.25 and Olena Fedorova of Ukraine was third at 340.20.
Ware, competing internationally in the event for the first time this season, totalled 336.75. She had trouble with two dives in the final: her inward dive in the third round and her twisting dive in the fifth and last round. She was standing third overall after four rounds.
“I’m more upset about my third dive,” said Ware, 20. “It’s definitely my hardest one but I’ve been working very hard on it. I went out too far and didn’t position my body properly. On the last dive I didn’t execute my hurdle properly.”.
She launched the final with a brilliant backward dive scoring 8.0’s from all seven judges and delivered once again in the second round with her forward two and half. She also landed 8.0’s and 8.5’s on her reverse dive.
“Overall it was a solid performance and I gained some confidence,” Ware said.
Competition ends Sunday with the 10-metre tower featuring Carol-Ann Ware. The Ware sisters were fifth Friday in the women’s 10-metre synchro.
